Project Overview

A-Line, a company specialising in IT security solutions, recently opened its new headquarters in Sofia, Bulgaria. During the interior setup phase, the company encountered a serious challenge - creating a comfortable and productive workspace. Unfortunately, there was excessive reverberation in two of the primary office rooms.

The echo was significant enough to affect speech clarity and team communication, making A-Line search for a fast and effective acoustic solution. After research, DECIBEL was contacted to deliver a solution that balanced technical performance with aesthetic integration into the office design.

Why Acoustic Treatment Matters

Modern office spaces are often designed with minimalism in mind. Glass, concrete, and clean lines, but these materials can create acoustically harsh environments. When sound reflects off hard surfaces without control, it increases reverberation time, making communication more difficult and focus harder to maintain.

Left untreated, these issues can lead to fatigue, stress, and reduced productivity. Effective acoustic treatment ensures clarity of speech, better concentration, and a more professional work environment, especially in industries like IT where focused tasks and communication are most important.

Challenge

The challenge was to quickly reduce the reverberation in two office rooms, without disrupting the visual identity of the space. A-Line requested a design-oriented acoustic solution that could be implemented quickly to restore comfort and functionality in the chosen areas. The project needed to address both wall and ceiling reflections, all within a tight, one-week timeline.

Scope of Work

  • On-site acoustic inspection and measurements
  • Custom project planning with multiple layout options
  • Design and production of wall and ceiling acoustic treatments
  • Installation of 53 acoustic textile wall panels (50x50x5 cm)
  • Mounting of 10 horizontal PET baffles (100x50 cm) on the ceilings

Solution

DECIBEL’s acoustic engineers carried out several site visits to make sure that the treatment plan was both precise and practical. Afterwards, a custom solution was developed, combining wall-mounted textile panels to absorb mid and high-frequency sound reflections, and ceiling-mounted horizontal PET baffles to manage vertical sound waves and increase room absorption coverage.

The panels were selected not only for their acoustic performance but also for their ability to blend with the existing office interior, maintaining a professional and cohesive aesthetic.

Thanks to DECIBEL’s flexible project management, the entire process, from consultation to final installation, was completed within one working week, minimising potential disruption into A-Line’s operations.

Result

After installation, the reverberation levels in both offices dropped significantly, creating a quieter, more focused environment that aligned with A-Line’s high standards for employee comfort and productivity. The acoustic upgrades were seamlessly integrated into the workspace, providing a lasting impact both functionally and visually.
