Boutique recording studio in Rome

Project Overview
In 2016, DECIBEL expanded its footprint into the Italian market, bringing years of expertise in acoustic transformation to new terrain. One of the company’s first endeavours was a boutique recording studio in Rome—a space where sound had to do more than function; it had to inspire. The client sought more than technical precision; they wanted an immersive environment where acoustics and aesthetics worked in harmony.
Challenge
The project demanded a delicate balance: eliminate unwanted reverberation, tune the space across low, mid, and high frequencies, and at the same time, maintain a bold, creative visual identity.
The space needed to sound perfect, but also look the part. This challenge spoke directly to DECIBEL’s strengths: turning technical complexity into seamless sensory experience.
Scope of Work
DECIBEL took on the full spectrum of work:
- Consulting on the acoustic design
- Selecting the appropriate materials and supplying them
- Managing the installation with precision.
From the earliest conversations to the final mounted diffuser, our team guided the project with care, ensuring that every element served both function and form.
Solution
The final acoustic concept featured a refined mix of materials designed to transform the auditory and visual character of the room. Fabric acoustic panels handled broad frequency absorption.
Elegant wooden perforated panels brought mid-frequency control and a natural warmth. Bespoke acoustic panels were custom-printed with the studio’s logo, turning branding into part of the sonic solution.
Ceiling-mounted diffusers in a matte black finish added depth and clarity while blending seamlessly with the studio’s sleek interior. The bass traps at the corners of the studio took care of the unnecessary sound accumulation while adding style to the whole room.
Result
The space was acoustically balanced, visually unified, and emotionally resonant—a studio where every sound could be captured with crystal clear clarity. The integration of branding and visual design helped reinforce the studio’s identity as a place of both creativity and professionalism.
Most importantly, the client now works in a space where sound doesn’t just meet technical standards—it feels right.
Are boutique studios different?
Boutique studios are no longer just rooms to record in—they are creative sanctuaries. Artists, producers, and engineers expect technical performance, yes—but also inspiration, identity, and comfort.
DECIBEL’s approach recognises this evolution. By merging deep acoustic knowledge with a designer’s eye, we help studios like this one become more than functional. We help them become unforgettable.
