Project Overview

For one international businessman, free time meant more than relaxation. His passion for recording music and producing podcasts with friends had turned a room in his home into a creative hub.

Yet the space was working against him. Echo and poor sound quality were limiting the enjoyment and professionalism of his recordings.

To turn this personal studio into the inspiring environment he imagined, he contacted DECIBEL to design and deliver an acoustic solution that would elevate both sound and atmosphere.

Challenge

The room needed to perform in two roles: as a music space and as a podcast studio. Achieving acoustic balance for both speech and instruments required precise measurements and a tailored approach.

The design also had to be visually engaging, as the studio would host both recordings and social sessions with friends.

Scope of Work

  • On-site acoustic measurements and assessment of the studio space
  • Testing and evaluation of different acoustic treatment options
  • Prescription of Echo Wall textile panels in 50x50 cm format with two thicknesses (3 cm and 5 cm)
  • Installation of white panels on the ceiling and light grey panels on the walls
  • Integration of a black-painted finish for the remaining surfaces to achieve a striking visual contrast

Solution

The combination of Echo Wall panels in two thicknesses created a three-dimensional aesthetic that enhanced the studio’s character while broadening the frequency absorption range.

The white and grey acoustic panels blended with the interior concept, while the black finish tied the design together, giving the studio a modern, minimalist atmosphere.

Result

The transformation exceeded expectations. Reverberation and echo were eliminated, speech and music now had clarity, and the room looked as good as it sounded.

The client was delighted, using the studio regularly both for personal recording sessions and for gatherings with friends.
