Acoustic intervention at TV Alfa North Macedonia

Project Overview

DECIBEL carried out a complete wall-mounted acoustic treatment for TV Alfa, a broadcasting studio in Kumanovo, Republic of North Macedonia. The goal was to significantly reduce reverberation and achieve broadcast-grade sound conditions within a large, echo-prone studio space.

Challenge

The studio’s spacious interior, while visually open, made it highly susceptible to echo—particularly during group recordings and interviews with multiple guests. Poor sound control in such settings compromises the clarity and professionalism that are expected in a broadcast environment.

Scope of Work

DECIBEL was responsible for the full acoustic treatment of all interior walls. This included:

• Selection of suitable sound-absorbing products

• Surface coverage of all studio walls

• Direct installation of the panels via adhesive application for efficiency and a clean finish

Solution

Two types of panels were used in combination - foam and textile:

• Pyramidal acoustic foam panels to diffuse and absorb sound reflections across a wide frequency range

• Textile acoustic panels for both functional absorption and a visually cohesive studio appearance

This dual approach ensured a controlled acoustic field while complementing the interior’s design language.

Result

After the installation, reverberation was significantly reduced. The space now meets professional studio standards, offering a clear and focused sound environment for both hosts and guests. The improved acoustics not only enhance audio quality on air but also contribute to a more comfortable experience for everyone in the room.
