- Soundproofing the Ceiling in SASA Restaurant
Soundproofing the Ceiling in SASA Restaurant

Project Overview
Located on the ground floor of the Radisson Hotel in Sofia, one of the popular SASA restaurant locations was facing a significant noise challenge.
Noise from the busy dining space, ranging from loud conversations and background music to the clatter of plates, was transferring through the ceiling into the guest rooms above, disturbing hotel patrons and affecting the overall guest experience.
DECIBEL was brought in to deliver a professional soundproofing solution that would preserve the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant while restoring tranquillity for hotel guests.
Challenge
The thin ceiling separating the restaurant from the hotel rooms above provided minimal resistance to noise transmission. As a result, airborne and impact noise easily reached the upper floors, leading to guest discomfort and negative reviews for the hotel.
The solution needed to deliver high acoustic performance without significantly altering the interior or compromising ceiling height.
Scope of Work
- On-site acoustic assessment and consultation
- Design of a tailored ceiling soundproofing system
- Supply of C-MUTE SYSTEM™ panels
- Installation of the panels using DECIBEL’s DClox™ anti-vibration fasteners
- Final sound measurements post-installation
Used Products:
- C-MUTE SYSTEM™
- DClox™ anti-vibration fasteners
Solution
DECIBEL’s engineers proposed the use of C-MUTE SYSTEM™, a highly efficient sound insulation solution developed specifically for airborne and impact noise.
The system uses an electromechanical principle of mass–spring–mass, which effectively isolates and absorbs vibrations and noise. Special DClox™ fasteners were applied to mount the panels securely to the ceiling, minimising transmission paths and optimising acoustic performance.
Result
Post-installation measurements confirmed a marked reduction in noise levels, restoring acoustic comfort to the hotel rooms above. The solution maintained the restaurant’s design integrity while significantly enhancing guest satisfaction at the Radisson Hotel.
Restaurants located in mixed-use buildings, especially beneath residential or hospitality units, must take a proactive approach to noise management. Even everyday sounds, music, conversations, kitchen activity, can lead to serious complaints when not properly contained.
This project demonstrates how specialised soundproofing systems like C-MUTE SYSTEM™ can solve complex acoustic challenges without disrupting business operations or design intent.
