Soundproofing Curtains for Doli Media Studio

Project Overview

Doli Media Studio, a respected name in Bulgarian television and music production, turned to DECIBEL for a fast and highly specialized soundproofing solution. The goal was to isolate the stage area of their studio, located in a residential neighborhood, to prevent noise from disturbing nearby homes.

The studio needed a solution that would work immediately, look discreet on camera, and meet strict acoustic performance standards. DECIBEL delivered within one week.

Why Acoustic Treatment Matters

Television studios often generate high sound levels, especially during live recordings with bands, audiences, and hosts in the same space. Without proper treatment, noise easily escapes through structural gaps like corridors or uninsulated doors.

In residential areas, this leads to complaints and can limit studio operations. Soundproofing solutions like acoustic curtains and low-frequency absorbers help contain noise, improve in-room sound quality, and support broadcast-level audio control.

Challenge

The challenge had two sides. First, the sound from the studio stage was leaking outside through the building’s structure, especially the entrance door and corridor that brought the audience into the space. Second, noise from the audience and live band needed to be controlled inside the studio to keep the host’s side of the stage acoustically clean.

There was no time for full analysis or a temporary structure on the outside of the building. The space had to be ready within days, just before the new season of filming began.

Solution

DECIBEL installed a set of custom DBB™ soundproof curtains, each 6 meters long by 3.5 meters high, mounted on three rail tracks for mobility. These curtains are made from rigid, high-mass materials and provide both sound insulation and absorption, with special attention to the 70Hz range specified by the client.

Behind the musicians, a slim-profile low-frequency absorber was installed to manage bass buildup. The entire setup was finished in a black color, making it invisible to viewers on camera.

Result

The result was immediate! The soundproof curtains blocked unwanted sound leakage, while the low-frequency absorber cleaned up the acoustic response behind the band. Audience noise was no longer spilling toward the host, and neighbors outside the studio were no longer disturbed.
