Sound-Absorbing Wall Panels Installed in Gym Near External AC Unit

Project Overview
DECIBEL improved the acoustic comfort of a gym space affected by external noise in Sofia, Bulgaria. The gym shared a wall with an outdoor air conditioning unit, and the sound transfer was disrupting the atmosphere inside the facility. The goal was to reduce noise impact through targeted sound absorption.
Challenge
The proximity of the external AC unit to the gym wall resulted in unwanted noise transmission, likely including low-frequency vibrations and mechanical hum. This posed a distraction to gym users and affected the overall experience.
Scope of Work
DECIBEL supplied and installed sound-absorbing wall panels designed to reduce the acoustic impact of the neighbouring air conditioning unit.
Solution
The panels were installed directly onto the gym wall that faced the external HVAC system. Their purpose was to absorb incoming sound energy and reduce internal reverberation, improving the acoustic conditions in the training environment.
Result
The space became noticeably quieter and more comfortable for gym users. The treatment helped isolate the noise source and contributed to a more focused and pleasant exercise environment.
Noise is Not a Flex
Noise from HVAC equipment can interfere with comfort in fitness and wellness spaces. DECIBEL’s targeted use of sound-absorbing panels offers a simple yet effective solution for gyms and similar facilities located near mechanical noise sources.
