Project Overview

DECIBEL was commissioned to carry out professional acoustic treatment for a multifunctional hall at LULIN PLAZA Trade Complex in Sofia, Bulgaria. The space was intended to host a wide variety of events, including business meetings, training sessions, corporate parties, weddings, proms, cocktail evenings, and private celebrations.

The goal was to create a flexible acoustic environment that could comfortably support these different uses without compromise.

Challenge

The challenge lay in designing distinct acoustic zones within a single hall. Each area required a tailored approach depending on its intended function, whether for quiet conversations at tables or vibrant music near the dancefloor.

The project also involved insulating a door that connected the hall to a neighbouring sports area, ensuring sound would not leak between the two venues.

Solution

DECIBEL’s engineering team used a layered approach to acoustic treatment. Different types of acoustic materials were applied to specific parts of the hall to match the needs of each zone.

Treatments ensured speech clarity for seated guests and maintained musical fidelity near the DJ and dancefloor. Specialised sound insulation was applied to the connecting door to isolate noise between the multifunctional hall and the sports hall.

Result

Post-treatment measurements confirmed excellent acoustic performance across the entire space. The hall now offers an optimised sound environment that supports a wide range of events, from formal gatherings to lively celebrations, ensuring clarity, comfort, and acoustic balance for every type of occasion.
