Project Overview

Sygic, a leading navigation software company, approached DECIBEL with a request for acoustic design and treatment for their newly developed open-plan office, covering approximately 2,000 m² in Twin City, Bratislava.

The aim was to significantly reduce the reverberation time and improve the acoustic comfort for employees working in the large open space.

After an initial on-site acoustic assessment, DECIBEL proposed and installed a tailored system of Echo Cloud suspended baffles, achieving both effective noise control and an aesthetic upgrade for the interior.

Challenge

Large open-plan offices with hard surfaces tend to suffer from long reverberation times, which can severely impact speech intelligibility, increase mental fatigue, and lead to reduced productivity.

The key challenge was to design a solution that could cover a wide area without obstructing lighting or ventilation systems, while remaining visually coherent with the office’s modern design.

Scope of Work

  • Acoustic measurements to assess existing reverberation times
  • Acoustic modelling to determine optimal placement of treatments
  • Design and selection of Echo Cloud suspended baffles (1.2 x 1.2 m)
  • Full-scale installation of acoustic baffles across the ceiling area
  • Visual integration of acoustic panels with the existing interior

Solution

DECIBEL’s engineering team carried out a complete acoustic survey, followed by the design and implementation of a ceiling-mounted acoustic treatment plan.

Echo Cloud baffles, chosen for their high absorption properties and minimalist design, were suspended throughout the office in a coordinated grid layout. Their size (1.2 x 1.2 m) and spacing were optimised for maximum coverage without interfering with lighting or HVAC infrastructure.

The baffles not only reduced echo and improved speech clarity, but also contributed to the visual identity of the workspace by adding rhythm and depth to the ceiling plane.

Result

The result was a substantial improvement in the acoustic comfort of the space, with measurable reductions in reverberation time.

The improved soundscape now supports clearer communication, better focus, and a more pleasant working environment overall.

This project, done in collaboration with our partners from POTICHU, demonstrates how thoughtfully integrated acoustic solutions can enhance both function and form in large, collaborative workspaces.
