Acoustic Ceiling Baffles in the Litex Tower, Sofia

Project Overview

In June 2012, DECIBEL took on an important acoustic upgrade in the Litex Tower, a landmark business building in Sofia. Conference rooms and office spaces inside the tower were struggling with echo and poor sound clarity, making everyday communication a challenge.

DECIBEL was contacted to create an acoustic treatment that would cancel out the echo and make these spaces more comfortable and effective for conferences and meetings.

Why Acoustic Treatment Matters

In offices like this one, echo and background noise can ruin everything from phone calls to team meetings. The sleek surfaces like glass, wood, and open ceilings are great for design, but they’re bad for acoustics.

Challenge

The office had everything: suspended ceilings, striking wood wall panels, and dramatic lighting features that made it look polished and modern. But that same design created a wall-to-wall echo that just wouldn’t go away.

The solution had to blend in, respect the light and architecture, and fix the echo problem.

• Selection of hanging acoustic ceiling baffles with clean white finishes that match the bright, modern lighting
• Careful integration with the office’s layout and design, and no interference with light fixtures or visual lines

Solution

DECIBEL installed acoustic ceiling baffles in a chic grid pattern that complemented the bold lines of the office’s architecture. The baffles worked with the bright circular ceiling lights and existing structures, creating a modern look that didn’t disrupt the initial aesthetic.

Result

The difference was immediate. Echoes were gone, and voices sounded clear. Meetings and congerences felt more focused, and the constant hum of open space work was under control.
